GF 109203X hydrochloride is a small molecule that binds to the ATP-binding cassette transporter and inhibits its activity. GF 109203X hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit tumor growth by inhibiting cellular signaling pathways, such as those activated by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and protein kinase C. The drug also has an inhibitory effect on the activation of estrogen receptor modulators and phorbol ester receptors. GF 109203X hydrochloride is a potent competitive inhibitor of heparin, with a molecular weight similar to that of heparin. This drug can be used in cancer therapy and for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia.
