N-(5-Benzylthiazol-2-yl)-2-((4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio)acetamide is a potent and selective inhibitor of peptide binding to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has been shown that this compound can inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in human cancer cells. In addition, this drug has been shown to inhibit the release of serotonin from synaptosomes. N-(5-Benzylthiazol-2-yl)-2-((4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)thio)acetamide is currently being developed as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease.
