Product Information
N-Benzyl-6-chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide is an antiviral agent that has been shown to be effective against bacterial strains such as influenza, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Staphylococcus aureus. The mechanism of action of N-benzyl-6-chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide is not well understood but the drug has been shown to inhibit viral RNA synthesis and the DNA polymerase activity of influenza virus. It also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the pyrazinamide site on bacterial enzymes, including pyrazinamidase, octylamine dehydrogenase, and chloramphenicol acetyltransferase. N-benzyl-6-chloropyrazine-2-carboxamide has also shown antibacterial activity by inhibiting the synthesis of cell wall components.
