Product Information
Seladelpar is a small molecule that acts as a phosphatase inhibitor. It has been shown to be effective in treating chronic viral hepatitis, which is caused by inflammation of the liver. Seladelpar has also been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with metabolic disorders and to have anti-inflammatory properties. Seladelpar inhibits phosphatases, enzymes that hydrolyze phosphate esters, and prevents dephosphorylation of bile acids, cholesterol and fatty acids. This inhibition may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, where bile acid levels are elevated. Seladelpar has not been tested in humans but has been shown to be safe in wild-type mice when given at high doses for up to six months. Seladelpar has also been found to increase energy metabolism and improve disease activity in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease.
