1-(tert-Butyl) 2-ethyl 5-oxo-1,2-pyrrolidinedicarboxylate is a chiral, acidic amide that can be used for the synthesis of sulfoxide and sulfonyl chloride. It is also an effective ligand for copper catalysis and has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of DPP-4. 1-(tert-Butyl) 2-ethyl 5-oxo-1,2-pyrrolidinedicarboxylate is soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane and methanol. It has shown promise in the treatment of pollution by removing sulfur compounds from the environment.
