LXE 408 is a chemical compound that has been shown to inhibit the transport of leishmanial mitochondria. It has been shown to be an active compound against Leishmania and Trypanosoma, which are parasites that cause leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis respectively. LXE 408 can be used as a treatment for these diseases. It also inhibits the replication of viruses such as Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). This drug is not active against bacteria or fungi.
