Product Information
Pritelivir is a prodrug that is converted to the active form, pritelivir mesylate, in vivo. It has antiviral activity against viruses such as herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). Pritelivir has been shown to be safe and well tolerated in clinical trials for both men and women with genital herpes. Pritelivir mesylate is administered orally as tablets or capsules. The drug has also been formulated as a solubilized preparation for intravenous administration. Pritelivir mesylate has been designed to maximise absorption by using maleic acid salts instead of salts of other acids.
Pritelivir mesylate is not yet approved for use but the company expects it to be available soon.
