KY19382 is a small molecule inhibitor of the beta-secretase enzyme. It binds to the active site of beta-secretase and blocks cleavage of amyloid precursor protein (APP). This inhibits the production of Aβ peptides and reduces amyloid plaque formation in a rat model. KY19382 is also an activator of PPARγ, which may be useful for treating type 2 diabetes.
