The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of caspases, which are enzymes that regulate apoptosis (cell death) in response to inflammatory stimuli. 3-(4-Bromo-3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzoic acid hydrazide has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells via the binding of its bromopyridine moiety to the metabotropic glutamate receptor 2. This compound also has an antiinflammatory effect by inhibiting tyrosine kinase, which is an enzyme that regulates inflammation.
