The product is purified by crystallization with methanol and analyzed using analytical methods such as gas chromatography or mass spectrometry. (3R,11bR)-Tetrabenazine-d3 has been shown to be effective for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and hyperkinetic movement disorders.
