Product Information

Name:
2-(((5-Methyl-2-thienyl)methylene)amino)-N-phenylbenzamide
Description:

2-(((5-Methyl-2-thienyl)methylene)amino)-N-phenylbenzamide is a synthetic antibiotic, which has been developed as an alternative to penicillin and erythromycin. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and blocking protein synthesis. This compound is active against some strains of bacteria that are resistant to penicillin and erythromycin, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). 2-(((5-Methyl-2-thienyl)methylene)amino)-N-phenylbenzamide also has antiviral properties against Herpes simplex virus type 1 and HIV.
