Hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane is a viscosity agent that is used as a cross-linking agent in zirconium oxide coatings. Hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane has been shown to have anticancer activity and can be used in paclitaxel therapy. It also prevents the crystallization of polymers such as ethylene diamine, which has been shown to increase the stability of these polymers. Hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane is a byproduct of the production of hexamethyldisiloxane and octamethyltrisiloxane and can be synthesized by cationic polymerization. The viscosity of hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane is constant over a wide range of temperatures because it does not break down under pressure.
