Product Information
4-Hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid is a metabolite of styrene that is formed by the dehydrogenation of 2-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propan-1-one. The enzyme responsible for this conversion is an NAD+/NADH oxidoreductase, which forms 4-hydroxycinnamic acid from 4,4′-dimethoxystilbene. This metabolite has been found in the transcriptome of filamentous fungi such as Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigatus and may be involved in their industrial production pathway. 4,4′-Dimethoxystilbene is also used as a substrate for other dehydrogenases to produce diketones such as diacetyl and acetoin.
