Description:

Methyl 2-phenoxypropanoate is a cyclic amide that has been shown to be an effective immobilized catalyst for the synthesis of esters. It is soluble in organic solvents such as hexane and benzene, but insoluble in water. This compound can be used with a variety of catalysts, including lipase and piperidine, to produce esters from acid methyl esters. Methyl 2-phenoxypropanoate has also been shown to exhibit kinetic behavior in the presence of additives such as solutes and homologous reactants. The reaction time for this compound is typically less than 10 hours and the enzyme's activity is independent of pH or temperature.
