Product Information
3-(Carboxymethyl)benzoic acid is a polymeric material that has a range of potential applications. It is optically transparent and can be processed into films, fibers, or other shapes. 3-(Carboxymethyl)benzoic acid has a low thermal expansion coefficient (2.5 x 10-4 K-1), which makes it useful as a thermoplastic material. This compound can also be used to create particles with an average diameter of 200 nm and transition metal salts with frameworks that are expandable to form microspheres. The optical properties of 3-(Carboxymethyl)benzoic acid can be tuned by varying the metal coordination present in the structure. 3-(Carboxymethyl)benzoic acid is also used as an inorganic precursor for metal coordination polymers by reacting with metals such as nickel or cobalt at high temperature to produce thermally stable materials.
