Product Information
Anthracene-2-carbaldehyde is a synthetic compound that has a hydroxyl group and an aromatic ring. The anthracene molecule is composed of two benzene rings connected by three carbon atoms. Anthracene-2-carbaldehyde binds to the adenine base with cavity and hydration interactions, forming hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl group. This binding results in the formation of a chalcone structure. The binding constants for this model system are high and the fluorescence lifetime is long. Anthracene-2-carbaldehyde can exist as four isomers, with two being energetically favorable over the other two. It has been shown that anthracene can be separated from its solvent using photochemical cleavage.END>>
