7-Fluoro-4-hydroxycoumarin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is used as an optical probe for the detection of nucleic acids. 7-Fluoro-4-hydroxycoumarin emits light at wavelengths of 694 nm and 656 nm when excited by electron radiation. It has been shown to be an electron donating compound, with an emission maximum at 656 nm in dichloromethane solution.
