Product Information
- 2-Thiophenecarboxylic acid, 3-hydroxy-, ethyl ester
Ethyl 3-hydroxythiophene-2-carboxylate is a test compound that can be used in animal cancer studies. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of human lung tissues and tumors in mice. Ethyl 3-hydroxythiophene-2-carboxylate also inhibits DNA replication by binding to lysine residues in histones. This binding prevents the formation of a substrate complex with the enzyme DNA polymerase, preventing DNA replication and transcription. Ethyl 3-hydroxythiophene-2-carboxylate also inhibits human erythrocyte chloride channel activity, which may be due to its ability to bind to chloride ions at high affinity.
