Product Information
Methiocarb sulfone is a carbamate pesticide that has been used in wastewater treatment and as an analytical method for carbaryl. Methiocarb sulfone is extracted with a dispersive solid-phase extraction (SPE) matrix, and the fluorescence signal intensity can be used to determine the concentration of methiocarb in the sample. The SPE matrix is prepared by diluting methiocarb with acetone, adding water to dissolve, then adding a surfactant (e.g., octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol). This mixture is added to silica gel particles, which are then dried at high temperature in an oven. The fluorescent derivative is formed when acetone reacts with methiocarb sulfone in a reaction solution containing the matrix. The sample preparation involves adding the fluorescent derivative to rat liver microsomes and measuring fluorescence at an excitation wavelength of 340 nm and emission wavelength of 520 nm. Methiocarb sulfone can
