N,N-Dipropylaniline is an amine and a polycarboxylic acid. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It has been found to be an effective radiation stabilizer for optical fibers in tissue culture. The chemical reactions of N,N-dipropylaniline are usually acidic, but the acidity can be increased by adding chlorine and silver ions. The presence of the hydroxyl group gives this compound the ability to react with other compounds that have acidic ph values, such as polycarboxylic acids.
