Description:

Tetrasul is a pesticide that is used to control various pests in fruit trees and mollusca. Tetrasul is insoluble, so it cannot be used as a spray. It is applied as a dust or soil drench. The active ingredient, carbaryl, works by inhibiting the cholinesterase enzyme, which causes paralysis and death in insects. Carbaryl has been found to be toxic to animals due to its ability to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in the blood plasma of vertebrates. It can also react with metals on surfaces and form metal carbonyls which are more toxic than carbaryl alone. Tetrasul has shown toxicity against many strains of crop plants including rice, maize, cotton and potatoes.
