2,2-Dimethyl-5-(propan-2-ylidene)-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione is a ketone that is used in the synthesis of tertiary amines. It is also an intermediate for the synthesis of phosphites and betaines. The condensation product can be used to synthesize acetones, alcohols and other organic compounds. This compound reacts with amines to form an isomer that has geometrical and reactive properties.
