Description:
5-Chloro-4-nitro-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole is an organic chemical compound that belongs to the group of thiadiazoles. It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of about 170 °C. 5-Chloro-4-nitro-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole has been shown to be activated by alkaline solutions and is soluble in water. This substance can be synthesized by reacting aniline with nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. The reaction mixture should be filtered before the addition of isopropyl alcohol. The reaction may also be performed using isopropyl alcohol as solvent.
