Product Information
- 2-propenoic acid, 2-cyano-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-, ethyl ester, (2Z)-
- Ethyl (2Z)-2-cyano-3-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate
- Ethyl 2-cyano-3-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate
Ethyl 2-cyano-3-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate is a catalytic, stereoselective acrylate that may be used to form chiral epoxides. The reaction proceeds by the organocatalyzed addition of an aldehyde and chloroacetone to a methylene moiety in the presence of ethyl 2-cyano-3-(4-nitrophenyl)acrylate. This method is efficient and provides high yields for the synthesis of epoxides.
