Pentanochlor is a cyclohexane ring with two nitrogen atoms and three fatty esters. It has been shown to have estrogen receptor modulator activity, inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells in vitro. Pentanochlor also inhibits leukotriene synthesis by binding to the leukotriene receptor. The molecule also has anti-inflammatory effects, which are most likely due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. Pentanochlor is used in food compositions for their antioxidant properties and as a pharmaceutical preparation for inflammatory diseases.
