1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione is a potent inhibitor of p2y receptors. It has been shown to inhibit the generation of monoclonal antibodies and cytosolic Ca2+ in T cells, which are both important for the activation of immune cells. 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione also inhibits the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is a DNA replication technique used in molecular biology. The molecule interacts with hydrogen bond and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), but does not interact with glutamate or carbaryl. This drug may be useful for the treatment of bladder cancer due to its potent inhibitory activity against p2y receptors.
