Description:

N,N'-Methylenebismethacrylamide is a quaternary ammonium salt that is used as an analytical reagent and viscosity modifier. It is soluble in water and miscible with organic solvents. N,N'-Methylenebismethacrylamide has been shown to be toxic in animals when injected intravenously or orally. It may also be hazardous to the environment due to its high toxicity to algae, fungi, and bacteria. This chemical can be used for immobilization of biomaterials such as proteins or cells for use in chromatographic separations or other biochemical studies. The monomers can be cross-linked by persulfate-mediated reactions.
