Galvinoxyl is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that is a reactive, photophysical, and termini. It has been shown to have a hydroxyl group, but does not have any other functional groups. It is reactive with nitro groups and can react with supercritical carbon dioxide at high temperatures. The terminal group on galvinoxyl consists of two carbons and one oxygen atom. Galvinoxyl has been shown to be cytotoxic in cell culture studies, which may be due to the nitro group on the molecule.
