- 2-(2,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)aniline
2-(2,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenylamine is a nitrate absorber that contains amines. It is capable of introducing nitrates into the body by absorbing them in the stomach, and is used to treat bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus aureus. 2-(2,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenylamine has unsymmetrical structure and can fluoresce when exposed to light. When chloride ions are present in solution, it utilizes the chloride ion to form a fluorescent compound. The chloride ion is also needed for this reaction because it provides nitrogen atoms for the ligand. 2-(2,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenylamine can be used as a biochemical reagent for labeling proteins with chlorides.
