3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbiphenyl-4,4'-diol is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C10H6O. It is the only known natural receptor antagonist for the estrogen receptor α (ERα). 3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbiphenyl-4,4'-diol binds to ERα and prevents estrogen from binding to it. This compound has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme anion radical scavenging (ARS) in vitro. 3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbiphenyl-4,4'-diol has been shown to have anti-oxidant properties in various assays and FTIR spectroscopy experiments.
