Cyclopropane-1,1,2,2-tetracarbonitrile (CPCN) is a synthetic organic compound that is used as a synthon for the synthesis of cyclopropanes. It can be obtained by the electrolysis of an alkali metal in an ethylene atmosphere. CPCN has been shown to be an active substance in supramolecular chemistry and x-ray diffraction data have indicated that it is a stereoselective molecule. The synthesis of cyclopropane nucleobases from the reaction of CPCN with nucleosides has also been achieved.
