4,4'-Bipyrimidine is a stabilizer that has been shown to increase yields and stabilize the conformational and redox profile of molecules. It is used in analytical chemistry to measure the concentration of carbonyl groups, fluorine atoms, and transferable electron pairs. 4,4'-Bipyrimidine can also be used as a sensitizer for photochemical reactions. The molecule has two dihedral angles (syn-anti) that are 180° apart. This conformation may be changed by increasing or decreasing the potentials applied to the molecule.
