5,6-Dihydro-6-methyluracil is a trivalent atom with a density of 1.05 g/mL that is soluble in water and organic solvents. This compound can be used as an analog for uracil and has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. It has also been shown to act as a catalyst for the acylation reaction. 5,6-Dihydro-6-methyluracil can be synthesized from 5,6-dihydroxymethylbenzene through the use of radiation or proton bombardment. The resulting product is not radioactive and does not exhibit any kinetic properties different from those of uracil.
