Description:
1-(2,4,6-Trihydroxyphenyl)butan-1-one is a prenyl compound that can be found in the plant Dryopteris. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on mitochondrial respiration and uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation. 1-(2,4,6-Trihydroxyphenyl)butan-1-one also inhibits viral replication and is used as an antimycotic agent. It has been shown to have anti-viral effects against herpes simplex virus type 1 and influenza A virus. This compound also has some anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease due to its ability to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity.
