Description:
4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyl ether is an organic compound that belongs to the group of diphenyl ethers. It is used as a fungicide, insecticide, and chemical intermediate. 4,4'-Dichlorodiphenyl ether inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to cytochrome P-450 in granule cells in the cerebellum. This binding prevents the oxidation of carbon sources, preventing an acidic environment from being produced and leading to cell death.
