Description:

Tri-n-octyl Borate is a solid chemical compound that functions as an inhibitor of corrosion. It is primarily used as a corrosion inhibitor in crankcase oils, although it is also used to inhibit corrosion in magnesium and aluminum alloys. Tri-n-octyl borate has been shown to be heat resistant up to 350°C, which makes it useful in the production of lubricants and glycol esters. This chemical has also been shown to inhibit the formation of malic acid from glycols and fatty acids, thereby preventing the corrosion of metals.
