Description:

Disperse Blue 1 is a cationic surfactant that is used in the treatment of wastewater. It has been shown to have a dose-dependent effect on the reduction of bladder cancer cells in rats. Disperse Blue 1 may also act as a competitive inhibitor of dopamine uptake, which could be beneficial in treating Parkinson's disease patients. The molecule has been found to be stable to acidic and basic conditions, making it suitable for use in pharmaceutical preparations or dietary supplement preparations where pH conditions may vary. Disperse Blue 1 can be prepared by reacting a pyrazole ring with benzene and ethylene oxide. This process also produces nitrogen atoms during the reaction, which are responsible for the carcinogenic activity associated with Disperse Blue 1.
