Tridecyl methacrylate (TMA) is a reactive polymer that is used as a cross-linking agent, sealant, and coating. TMA has the ability to react with metal surfaces such as aluminum, copper, steel, and zinc. This polymer also reacts with alcohol residues and fatty acids to form water-resistant coatings that are resistant to corrosion. TMA is also an effective control agent for reactive sites on paper and cardboard substrates. It can be used as a replacement for waxes in coatings due to its high viscosity.
