Product Information
2-Amino-2-(2-methylenecyclopropyl)acetic acid is a chiral amino acid that is found in the plant Hypoxis hemerocallidea. It has been shown to have antimutagenic properties against spontaneous mutagenesis and proton radiation. This compound has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of Salmonella typhimurium, with a spectrum of activity including strains resistant to tetracycline, streptomycin, and ampicillin. 2-Amino-2-(2-methylenecyclopropyl)acetic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosomal RNA gyrase and inhibiting protein synthesis. It also has a strong resonance with l-allylglycine, which may help to explain its antimutagenic properties.
