4-Methyl-1-phenylquinolin-2(1H)-one is a benzyl derivative of quinoline. It can be synthesized by condensation of 2,3,5,6-tetramethoxybenzaldehyde with 1-(4-methylphenyl)hydrazine. The compound has a dihedral angle of about 120° and hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl group at the 4 position and the carbonyl group at the 1 position.
