Product Information
2-Hydroxytricosanoic acid is a fatty acid that is found in the sphingolipids, glucosylceramides and glycolipids of some algae. It was first isolated from the green alga Chlorella pyrenoidosa. 2-Hydroxytricosanoic acid has been found to inhibit IL-10 production, which is an inflammatory cytokine. It also inhibits the production of TNF-α and other proinflammatory cytokines. 2-Hydroxytricosanoic acid has been shown to have anti-cancer effects against various types of cancer cells by altering their plasma membrane structures. This may be due to its ability to interfere with the synthesis of phospholipids in these membranes.
