Potassium propylxanthate is an inorganic compound that belongs to the group of p2 compounds and has a redox potential of -0.3 V. It is also a strong reducing agent with a redox activity index of 1.8e-4. Potassium propylxanthate is used to prepare dithiocarbamic acids from amides, nitriles, and ammonia. This chemical can be used as an analytical method for organic compounds, such as fatty acids and glycerin, by converting them into their corresponding derivatives. Potassium propylxanthate is also known to induce allergic reactions when it comes in contact with the skin or mucous membranes.
