Product Information

Name:
Methyl 2-cyclopentylacetate
Description:

Methyl 2-cyclopentylacetate is a β-amino acid that has been shown to inhibit the histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzyme. HDACs are a family of enzymes that regulate gene expression by removing acetyl groups from lysine residues in histones. Methyl 2-cyclopentylacetate prevents the addition of acetyl groups to proteins and can inhibit the function of HDACs. This inhibition leads to increased levels of acetylated histones, which results in an increased expression of genes responsible for cell proliferation and differentiation. Methyl 2-cyclopentylacetate has been shown to have beneficial effects on symptoms of psychosis, including hallucinations and delusions, as well as on memory loss associated with Alzheimer's disease. It also inhibits frequency shift in mouse brain cells, suggesting it could be used to treat epilepsy and other neurological disorders. This compound is not active orally because it is not absorbed from the intestine but may be active when injected into the
