Description:

Endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene is a hydrogenated hydrocarbon that can be obtained by the catalytic hydrogenation of cyclopentadiene. It has been found to have kinetic data that are in agreement with those predicted by a kinetic model system. The reaction mechanism is an example of a chain reaction, and the use of deuterium isotopes as a kinetic tool provides evidence for the proposed mechanism. Endo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene is also an isomerizing agent which has been used for the synthesis of other compounds. The structural analysis of this compound was performed using X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction data.
