Phenazin-1-amine is a molecule that is synthesized from hydrochloric acid and electrons. It has been shown to be capable of oxidizing zirconium oxide in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, which is used for the production of chromatographic columns. Phenazin-1-amine can also be used to produce diazonium salt with silver ions or chloride, which can be used to form coatings on biological samples in order to detect infectious diseases. The fluorescence properties of this molecule have also been studied by using hepg2 cells.
