Product Information
Methyl 2-hydroxy-5-methoxy-3-nitrobenzoate (HMN) is a potent anticancer agent that has been shown to be cytotoxic in a variety of cancer cell lines. It inhibits the activity of topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis. HMN also induces the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria, which activates caspases and initiates apoptosis. HMN has been studied for its cytotoxic effects on colorectal cancer cells. HMN was found to inhibit the growth of colorectal cancer cell lines with an IC50 value of 0.6 microM, but not normal colon cells. This suggests that HMN may be used as a chemotherapeutic agent against colorectal cancer.
