Description:
Trimethylsilylmethyl acetate is a molecule that has been used to synthesize nanotubes. It can be used in asymmetric synthesis and as a fluorophore. Trimethylsilylmethyl acetate is also used in the polymerization of polymers, which are typically initiated by thermal or photochemical reactions. This compound is also an aromatic hydrocarbon, which can be modified with a hydroxyl group to produce other compounds. Trimethylsilylmethyl acetate has been shown to inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) by binding to the gp120 protein on the surface of the virus and preventing it from attaching to CD4+ cells.
