2,4-Diisopropylphenol (DIP) is a chemical compound that induces apoptotic cell death. It can also act as a growth factor in some cells. DIP has been shown to inhibit voltage-dependent calcium channels, which may be related to its insulin sensitivity effects. This chemical also has an effect on energy metabolism and fatty acid metabolism. The inhibition of the activation of fatty acids by DIP may be responsible for its anti-cancer properties. However, the mechanism of this effect is not yet clear. Some studies have shown that DIP has an inhibitory effect on the debromination reaction, while other studies have found no such effects.
