Description:
4,4'-Dimethylbiphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid is an isomer of 4,4'-biphenol. It has a centrosymmetric molecular structure with two chiral carbon atoms and four different groups on the molecule. The molecule is made up of two cyclic structures that are connected by a bisecting bond. The compound crystallizes in the dihedral space group P2/c with a c-c bond length of 1.390 Å. This compound has two hydrogen bonds by the oxygen atom to the methyl group and one hydrogen bond by the carboxylic acid group to the phenyl group.
