Description:

Stannane, tetrakis(1-methylethyl)- is an organometallic compound that is used to prepare magnetic nanoparticles. It can be prepared by the reaction of trifluoroacetic acid with a water-soluble aliphatic hydrocarbon. Magnetic particles are useful in clinical chemistry because they can be used to measure the serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level in human blood samples. The amount of serum ALT can be determined by measuring the amount of fluorescence that is emitted from the magnetic particles when they are subjected to a magnetic field. This is based on the principle that magnetic particles with high water permeability emit more light than those with low water permeability.
